Stabilised wood

Description

Burl stabilised wood. The stabilisation process makes the wood very durable and hard, it does not absorb water. The weight of the wood increases significantly with stabilisation.

It is an attractive material on the knife handle. It can be used as whole or cut lengthwise into handles, or cut crosswise into decorative strips/inserts into the handle.

The acrylic resin is used for stabilisation.

When stabilised multiple times, unique color effects are created by using different pigments in the wood.
