These include mainly brass, copper and bronze. These are attractive materials for the manufacture of guards, bolsters, butts or handle spacers. They look beautiful, but they are not as durable as steel and scratch more easily. Over time they undergo oxidation and change appearance.

The chemically and mechanically very resistant material grade 14301 (“food grade” stainless steel) serves well as a material for guards or back of handles. Due to the high chemical resistance, patination of the surface is difficult, brushing or sandblasting can be used.
