Description
Decorative mosaic pins on knife handles. The production of a mosaic pin is quite complicated. Traditional mosaic pins are made by inserting small tubes or wires into an outer (packaging) tube of standardized dimensions and pouring colored epoxy. These pins have an ornamental appearance.
Mosaic EDM pins have practically any image inside the outer tube. They are produced using a precise process in which a complex internal part is cut out using a wire EDM machine (electric discharge machining), inserted into the outer tube and the remaining space is filled with epoxy resin again. EDM pins are very difficult to manufacture and are therefore significantly more expensive.
Diameters of 6 or 8 mm are available, the length of the rod is 90 to 100 mm. One rod is therefore sufficient for about 4-5 pins, depending on the thickness of the handle and the length of the rod.
For thicker handles, it is possible to use a mosaic pin only on the visible part of the handle, the handles are then fixed using a hidden pin in the inner part of the handle.
Various combinations of materials are available: stainless steel, brass, copper, carbon.
It serves as a decorative variant of regular pins or screws for attaching knife handles.
