Layered laminate G10 for handles

Description

G10 is a laminated glass fiber laminate of high density and strength. It is available in a wide range of colors. It is used for liners and spacer layers, but also for the production of entire handle grips.

It is shiny on the surface, when viewed from the edge (when used as a liner or spacer layer) it is similar to fiber.

When viewed from the side, G10 has a typical striped structure, on obliquely ground surfaces the stripes optically expand and create interesting effects.

G10 is considered one of the most valuable synthetic materials mainly because of its durability and visual appeal. G-10 is popular for its high strength, low moisture absorption and high level of electrical insulation and chemical resistance. It retains these properties not only at room temperature, but also in humid conditions.

It was first used as a substrate for printed circuit boards and its designation G-10 comes from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association standard for this purpose.

Cutting or grinding the material can be hazardous as glass and epoxy dust are known to contribute to respiratory problems and may increase the risk of lung cancer. When doing any work of this nature, the work area should be properly ventilated and masks or respirators should be worn. The dust can also irritate the skin, so it is advisable to wear gloves.
