Description
Exotic wood Amboyna is the general name for tumor wood of the Pterocarpus genus (Padauk, Narra, Muninga, Zitan). The name of the wood is derived from the name of the Indonesian island of Ambon, where most of this wood comes from.
This wood is found in two main forms – red amboyna (reddish-brown tones) and golden amboyna (yellow to beige coloration). The most interesting pieces contain both color variants.
It is a dense and medium-heavy wood, used to make decorative items and rare furniture. It belongs to the rarest and most valued exotic woods.
The dimensions of the block are approximately 150 x 50 x 30 mm with a tolerance of +/- 3 mm, the wood is dry. Since it is a tumor, there may be small voids inside the block, which can be easily sealed with a putty of wood dust and super glue.
